What a wonderful Daddy we've got!!!
So today is Father's Day!!! Perry and Susann came over after church and we had sweet & sours and German chocolate cake for dinner. It was very good. We went around the table and shared stories about Dad and why we love him. There were such stories as Dad giving Perry the shirt off his back, painting the underside of a tank so Kelly wouldn't get squished, and lovingly letting Alisha and I poke his belly so we could feel the M&M's he'd just eaten as they digested. This talk, sitting around the dinner table, reminded me of Mom and Dad's anniversary. Mom made a cake, which, as you can see by the photo, tipped and slipped like the cake in "Sleeping Beauty!" The best part though is when Mom started to cut the cake and all us girls said that they should cut it together, like a wedding cake. Mom admitted that they'd never actually cut their first cake together (how sad huh?). So she magically produced a fancy cake cutter and they set out to cut their "wedding cake". I was taking photos and Dad wanted to make sure I got some good shots so he kept telling mom to hold on a minute and holding her hand back. After about... 45 seconds of that Mom goes "oh Richard!", grabs his hand and the knife and plunges it in before Dad could get another "wait a minute" in. I, for one, think we're pretty darn lucky to have such good parents!!!

Throughout history in the gospel there a records of Heavenly Messengers visiting, teaching, and serving faithful children of our Father in Heaven. Not all Heavenly Messengers are what is typified as Angels. Jeffrey R Holland in the ensign of November 2008 states, “Some of these messengers we walk with and talk with—here, now, every day. Some of them reside in our own neighborhoods. Some of them gave birth to us, and in my case, one of them consented to marry me. Indeed heaven never seems closer than when we see the love of God manifested in the kindness and devotion of people so good and so pure that angelic is the only word that comes to mind.” I for one am glad of the fact that our parents are Angelic in word and deed. I love you both for who you are and the love you have for each other and for us.
