Final Performances

I know it's late notice, but I wanted to inform everyone of my final two performances in Utah.
Tomorrow (Tuesday, 4/19) at 5:30 pm in the USU performance hall I'll be singing a short recital with a soprano. I'll be performing opera arias by Mozart, Rossini, Tchaikovsky, Korngold, and Puccini. I'd love to see anyone that feels like making last minute Tuesday night plans. I know its a school night, so I wont expect too much.

Heres a preview of one of the arias I'll be singing. This is one of my favorite baritones... Dmitri Hvorostovsky.

Next Wednesday (4/27) at 7:30 in the Kent Concert Hall is the USU Symphony Orchestra Concerto Evening. Every year the USU music department has a concerto competition department-wide (all students, all instruments) The winners get to perform with the orchestra at the year-end concerto evening concert. This will be my second time winning a spot to perform. This year I'm one of five students chosen to perform (and the only vocalist). I'll be singing 'Largo al factotum' from Rossini's 'The Barber of Seville'.

I know you all know it... you just probably don't know that you know it from the title. It's easily the hardest piece I've ever undertaken, so prayers in my behalf would be appreciated.

Simon Keenlyside... another of my favorites.

Oklahoma!

Well, after finally receiving all the offers from all the schools where I auditioned, we sat down last night and made a final decision. We'll be moving to Norman, Oklahoma as I begin work on my master's of music in voice at the University of Oklahoma. It was a tough decision to make, but we ended up going to where the money is. I've been offered (and have now accepted) a VERY generous opera fellowship as well as some competition winnings. It should allow us to live quite comfortably for the next two years while Alisha works, possibly pursues her MSW, and while I work towards my masters and potentially a doctorate afterwards.
It was a huge blessing that we received and we are looking forward to this next stage of our lives.
We're not sure exactly when we'll be moving, but come fall Oklahoma will be our new home.
From Aggies to Sooners!

This is the Reynolds Performing Arts Center. A beautiful building which houses the venue for all the opera productions. It's a gorgeous facility. I sang here when I took 3rd place in their scholarship competition.

This is a view of Holmberg Hall. The venue within the Performing Arts Center above. This is a view from the stage. It's a stunning facility and had stunning acoustics for the voice.

Check out our audition trip here.

Oh how I love technology!

So as most of you know yesterday was April 4th, more importantly it was our ultrasound appointment!!! And I know a great deal of you have Facebook but for those of you who don't I'm putting up the same pictures. Plus one picture that shows the gender. I didn't feel it was appropriate for the gender picture to be on Facebook but on the family blog it's more appropriate. But if you'd rather skip the picture I'll give you fair warning so that you can skip it if you'd like.

Let us begin......

This picture is of her legs....

In this picture she is holding on to her foot and stretching.

These are her tiny feet. SO CUTE!!
Super creepy but the ultrasound tech said she has a perfect skull.

Her little legs are crossed at the ankle just like the little lady she is. (It almost took an hour for us to find out the gender because of how concealed she was.)

Fuzzy profile picture.... She's sucking on her thumb;
which later fell out of her mouth, she then spent twenty minutes
trying to get the thumb back into her mouth this didn't work out very well, she ended up continuously smacking herself in the forehead.

Her pink profile picture. You can see she has my nose and lips..... possibly Corey's chin but I'm hoping she has the Mill's family chin.

The next picture is the gender picture!!!

I hope that explains it..... LoL she is definitely a girl!

March in photos
