WE DID IT FINALLY

We finally figured out [ with Alisha's & Erica's help ] how to not only get to the family blog, but also even how to add to it ! [ finger in the air going in a circle-saying whoopee ] all you expert computerer's are saying. but by golly by gum we did, finally . now all we have to do is remember to check it out frequently. I have decided old age is not all it's purported to be, but , considering the alternative,, it's not to bad,,considering.
we have been getting the cabin ready for usage, so your mother says it will be ready soon, she has been dejunking & says she has a mess [ it isn't all that bad ] . but we have had some fun with the well pump, the boss where we had it all fixed is coming up next week to see if he can fix what ever is wrong, the pump kicks on, then bounces, [ kind of banging ] builds up pressure ,tries to shut off & bounces some more, I explained to him I can't afford to have to replace the pump, ,again, don't want it burning out, again. hopefully it's something simple, [ and cheap ] to fix . it was good that Erica & Alisha could come for a visit.
we love you and miss you all. it is good when you can come visit
rest assured we will not die of loneliness, but it is nice when you can find the time, in your busy lives, with all the responsibilities [ and bills etc. ] you each have, to come, when you can.

Peripheral insulin resistance

I went to the doctor and she wanted to take a blood sample to test a few things and these are the results:

Peripheral insulin resistance; Failure of target tissues to increase glucose disposal in response to insulin.
See also: Insulin resistance (The diminished ability of cells to respond to the action of insulin in transporting glucose (sugar) from the bloodstream into muscle and other tissues.)

They want me to start taking Metformin; an oral diabetes medicine that helps control blood sugar levels.

So, my body is producing correct amounts of insulin, but the levels are too high when compared to my glucose and I am in a "pre-diabetic state"...

She said that is why I crave carbs & sugar... because my body feels like it needs more insulin, but I already have enough, my body just isn't using it properly.

So, eating more protein and taking the Metformin will "make my cells respond" the way they're supposed to and it should help my body "use energy the way it should."

Alright Already!

!! Sheesh, Alright i will tell you what is going on. Just so you know. I do read what is on the family blog. My life is just so boring that I don't think you want to hear the same thing over and over again. So here goes-- We have been taking Conner to the Dr. quite frequently. I think I have spent more time on the road this year than off it. Well to make a ling story short. The Dr. doesnt know why Conner has lost 20 pounds in the last 6 months but now he is on a feeding pump. It feeds him continuously all the time. It is kind of nice not to have to remember to feed him, and if he runs out of food the machine beeps at you. He is gaining weight and looking better all the time.
Ian played b-ball ( they got 3rd in state) and is planning on Track. He just got Contacts and went from not being able to get them in (and being very angryabout it). (That was averted by Erica coming to the rescue and making Ian feel better) to taking less than five minutes to get them in. It is amazing how different he looks with out his glasses.
Sean is busy and growing. He eats like he did when he was a baby every two hours. Yesterday at the dentist he had a baby tooth that had a huge cavity. It was loose so we just had the Dentist pull it out. Sean asked him about a dozen times if it would hurt. He panics about that kind of thing. After it was over he was all brave and saying it wasnt to bad, but when the dentist leaned over him to pull the tooth I thought he was going to jump up and run as fast as possible as far as possible.
There now you know what is going on. Oh wait, there is one more thing. One of our Bathrooms is out of commision. the drain didnt drain so we had someone fix that and when he removed the toilet to fix the drain the flange you hook the toilet to fell apart so now we have water for wash at least but we have to wait for the toilet to get fixed. It is joyfull to have only one bathroom. It is a good thing we don't have more people here. and the house smells--yuck!!

"Best Friend"

The other day I realized I use the term "best friend" rather loosley.
I call a lot of people my best friend.
This isn't good.
There should just be 1 best friend right? Well...
the more I think about it the more I want to answer
"No"
Here is my reasoning:

Meet Carrie. Carrie and I met in the MTC and started a wonderful friendship.
Carrie and I are a lot alike and she reminds me to be careful
with my wants and desires, and reminds me that what I reap... I sow.
We also complain to each other about anything and everything
and go on "help me!" dates with each other. I thank Carrie for my sanity.

Alisha, Lisbeth and Jessica are my best friends because we have been together
since I can remember...
We complain to each other, yell at each other, put each other in their respective "place"
and ultimately protect and support one another.
Whenever something really bad happens the 4 of us are there
to see each other through it... with minimal judgement, and then
complete forgiveness.

This is Brittan. He is my best friend because he has seen me through
thick and thin.
I met Brittan when John and I first started dating and
he has been with me ever since. Brittan is my best
friend because... even though I don't contact him as often as I should,
he understands. He is the calm, soothing voice in my life that
reminds me that things will always get better.

I have a soft spot for Luke. He is my best friend because... well just because he is.
No one will ever replace him. He makes me feel
unconditionally loved. He runs out to meet me in the car when I visit,
and cries when I leave.
Man I love this little guy!!

Andrew. Andrew and I met in class last year and were always together. I even became the honorary roommate of his apartment.
Andrew makes me want to be better. He is so intelligent that I always
feel like I need to improve my smarts. Andrew is my best friend because he understands me
and doesn't judge. He is my voice of reason and reckon.
I call Andrew for advice, or when I feel lonely.
He is the one who came offering ice cream and a shoulder to cry on when
Tomas left...
Andrew will always hold a special place in my heart.

This is my brother Curtis. Whenever I have a super crappy day it is Curtis
I want to call. He always makes me feel like a princess.
He also reminds me that I shouldn't let anyone treat me like anything less that a princess.
Curtis and I have even been known to drop everything and drive to Mom
and Dad's house to meet and walk down the canyon and talk for hours.
He reminds me that no matter how bad things are...
people still love me. And that forgiveness and love are always attainable.

And this is Dallin. He has only recently joined the ranks as 'best friend.'
Dallin and I met in the RM committee last year, but it wasn't until he became my
co-chair that we got close. I guess that was 1 good thing about our 6:30am meetings.
Dallin seems to only see the good in me.
He lets me complain and vent to him, accepts my weirdness, and
even goes with me to get pink cookies.
He goes on random adventures with me, is ok with no set plans,
saves me in awkward situations, makes me want to be a better person, and
even sacrifices sleep just to listen to me when I need him.
I can count on Dallin.
He even lets me sleep on his shoulder in class and movies,
gives great hugs when I need them, and space when I don't. Pretty much he
is just an all-around great guy!

And then there's this guy. He's perfect because he can never run away :)
He's solid and strong, understanding, forgiving,
fearless and brave. He's also taller than I am, which is a perk, and
remarkably strong :D

Ok ok so that last one was a little ridiculous, but I hope it brings my point home.
See, it proves that no one
is perfect... and because of that small, tiny, insignificant litte detail, more than
one best friend IS necessary.
I feel lucky to have so many. And for those of you who I didn't
write about... know that you are special in your own
way and that my life would not be the same without you!

PLEASE USE THE BLOG

Mills Family,

PLEASE use the blog!!

Erica & I are practically the only ones who post, and we have our own personal blogs so it's kind of pointless to do it on here if we can do it on our own... especially if nobody else is using it or seemingly reading it.

On the right side of the blog I have added links to individual blogs; Anthony & I, Erica, Krystal's cool crafts, Perry & Michelle, Lis & Ben, Jess & Frank, recipes, and Lil Fields-Bear

I have these emailed to you so you are more likely to post things yourselves.

It's easy and doesn't take much time.

Please, please, please use the blog.

If it's not being used there is no point having it at all.

You don't have to sign in to read the blog, so go have a gander http://keepingtrackofthemillsfamily.blogspot.com/

I've heard the excuse "I don't know how to use it" more times than I can count, so I'm emailing you step by step instructions on how to post to the blog.

NO MORE EXCUSES, JUST DO IT!!

We all need to talk more, and this is a perfect way to stay in contact...

Even one catch-up post a month would be fantastic.

Holy. Awkward. Moment. Batman!!!

Yesterday my friend Dallin and I went on a non-date date to the last hockey game of the season. we played the University of Utah and at least 6 people got ejected from the game! Fights were breaking out left and right and we ended up winning 7-4! Best game I've seen in a long time.

After the game Dallin and I went to my other friend Cal's house to watch a movie with him and Christophe. Yiding, Susanna and Cory weren't able to come for some reason or other. Darek and his girlfriend, whose name I have never heard, were there for a bit and we all chatted before we settled onto the couches to watch the movie. Cal and Darek keep their apartment pretty chilly so like always I curled up in the blue throw blanket only this time... Cal sat next to me because Cory wasn't there, and he's the one that usually shares a blanket with me. Now, don't get any crazy ideas. Cory has a girlfriend in Sweden and there is absolutely nothing between us; we both just always get cold. Anyway, I've noticed in the past few weeks that Cal has been paying me some more than usual attention, so when he pulled half of the blanket over to his side of the couch I pulled it back and gave 1/3 of it Dallin, who was on my other side. All went well for the first few minutes until I felt a hand slightly touching my leg. I didn't think anything of it; it was tight quarters with little arm space. Well, I DID notice when that hand ended up smack dab on my leg. *guh!!* I got up to "use the restroom" hoping that would help. I sat back down and, because it was a documentary on State Parks, promptly fell asleep to the sound of chirping birds and soothing music.

I woke up with my head nestled on Dallin's shoulder and Cal's hand on my thigh. *uhhhhhh... ahhhhh* so I pretended to sleep for a bit longer thinking of a solution and finally just stretched, pushing his arm away from me and said "oh, I fell asleep" and leaned forward onto my knees. Bad move. He promptly started scratching my back. I gave Dallin the "uhhhh what do I do... Holy crap!" face and he gave back the "what do you want me to do!?" face? I didn't have a clue he could help, other than putting his arm around me and pretending we're dating, which might be equally weird. So I leaned cracked my back, which caused the hand to move, and promptly sat back on the couch with my hands on my knees. Thankfully only about 6 minutes of the film were left because I didn't know what else to do.

The movie ended and I pretty much threw the blanket off and said it was time to go. Now, there's nothing against Cal, he's a great guy and I like him alot!!! But... isn't there some guy code that says that one guy shouldn't go after his buddy's girl? I know Cal through Tomas so... isn't that breaking the Bro Code?

So Dallin and I came home and watched Dan in Real Life and stayed up talking until almost 5. He is quickly climbing the ranks into my "best friend" category. Please don't give me crap about him being just another "buddy" everyone. Patience Patience.

Ski Day

- This is really Perry's post, so read it as if it is from him -

Hello everybody

Kevan, Chris, Kelly and our families are planning to go skiing this Friday night, and I know at least dad would be feeling like, "hey, I wanted to strut my stuff while I freeze my tail off on the ski hill, how come you didn't invite me."

so here I am sending out a shout to anybody who would like to join us!

we are looking to go to the bunny hill (about 200 yards of no slope for the little ones and beginners, and it has a rope tow) for a little while then do the night ski for those who are brave enough to try SUNDANCE -I know, I could have picked a spot closer to everybody up north, but its not everyday you get to play at Robert Redford's house, eh! . . . alright that has absolutely nothing to do with it, but we thought 35 minutes is a lot better than 2 1/2 hours for the one way trip. you could probably give us the deserving title of lazy bones, selfish, etc - or just ask Better for whom, PERRY???

if you want to play, the bunny hill is free (that's right, no cost!) and I worked out a price of $15 per person for the night ski (4:30 to 9:00), but I will need to know if you are interested so we can have the right number of tickets at the office for all of us.

BYU does a total ski package (skis, boots, pools) for $10 for the day and I expect there are other places around that do similar deals

I have to admit that I would love to see dad strut his stuff on the ski hill!!!

One thing I neglected to mention is kids 5 and younger are free for the lift if you want to try it!
